A 50-foot-tall statue of John Gollop is to be built in town to honour the cult-favourite deputy.
It’s been decided the statue of Prince Albert on the Albert Pier will be torn down and thrown in to landfill to make way for the bronzed John.
The statue is likely to be paid for by the bus company in recognition of his continued custom over the past years.
Ken Le Sauvage, a driver on Guernsey’s buses, is thrilled his favourite customer will be honoured by way of a statue.
“I can’t think of a more fitting tribute than a nice bronze John with a carrier bag in hand, tall and proud” he said.
“I want to be the first person to take a selfie with the new statue.
“Who even is Prince Albert anyway? I thought that was a piercing.”
